4th Annual Northwestern Medicine Lake Bluff Criterium and Block Party
Lake Bluff, IL - February 4, 2015 - For the fourth consecutive year, Northwestern Medicine® is the title sponsor and health care partner for the 2015 Northwestern Medicine Lake Bluff Criterium and Block Party. The event will be held on Saturday, July 25th by the Village Green in downtown Lake Bluff, Illinois.
"Having a terrific partner like Northwestern Medicine for the fourth year is huge," said Race Director Marco Colbert. "This has grown into a great community event featuring a full day of exciting bike racing and family fun. Our pro men and women races will again attract national attention as part of USA Cycling's National Criterium Calendar (NCC) and will draw top cyclists from across the country and around the world."
"Northwestern Medicine is proud to once again sponsor this wonderful community event," said Thomas J. McAfee, president of Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest Hospital. "We hope that families will come watch the pros and advanced racers in the Criterium and be inspired to incorporate cycling into their own fitness routines. Promoting healthy activities like cycling supports Northwestern Medicine's mission to create healthier communities."
"The bike race and the block party are wonderful events to showcase our beautiful community and charming central business district, and provide an opportunity for residents and visitors alike to enjoy a fun-filled intergenerational experience," said Lake Bluff Village President Kathleen O'Hara. "We continue to receive positive feedback regarding these family friendly events and are proud to host such a prestigious sporting event."
The Criterium is combined again with the Lake Bluff Block Party, produced by Friends of Lake Bluff Parks, to provide residents a great day of outdoor music, sport and fun. The bicycle racing will run from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.; the Block Party will be 4:00 pm until 11:00 pm. Local restaurants will provide a Taste of Lake Bluff on the Green, while live music by local musicians is staged in the Gazebo during the Block Party.
"The Block Party is a key fundraising component in our current multi-year campaign goal of $50,000 for updated stairs and restrooms at Lake Bluff's Sunrise Beach," said Friends Vice President and Block Party Director Jennifer Beeler. "With strong sponsorship support from local companies and enthusiastic participation from attendees and volunteers, we expect to achieve our goals: raising funds and raising awareness of the benefits the Park District offers Lake Bluff and the greater community."
